February 2009 - Tales of the Black Freighter / Under the Hood DVD Info

The official release date of the Black Freighter / Under the Hood DVD is March 24. The animated DVD is rated "R" and features the voice of Gerard Butler ("300").

January 2009 - Viral Marketing Site Launched

January 26, 2009 - Watchmen "Motion Comic" to be Released on Blu-Ray

In March, shortly before the movie's premiere, a "motion comic" version of Watchmen will be made available on Blu-Ray.



January 16, 2009 - Watchmen Settlement Reached

An undisclosed settlement was reached between both studios. The release date remains the same.


January 14, 2009 - Watchmen Hearing Canceled, Settlement Expected

The Fox vs. Warner Bros. lawsuit will apparently end with a settlement, as the hearing scheduled later this month has been canceled.


January 12, 2009 - Was Watchmen's Fate Decided at the Golden Globes?

A reporter at The New York Times writes, "From where this reporter sat at the Golden Globes last night, that sure looked like Tom Rothman of Fox and Alan Horn of Warner Brothers down among the superstar seats, smiling and back-patting — each other, not the superstars — just before the show began."


January, 2009 - Malin Akerman Comments on Film's Legal Troubles

In an interview with MTV (view video here), Akerman sums up the film's legal troubles as "sh-t happens."


December, 2008 - Warner Bros. Vows to Fight Watchmen Delay

The movie is still tentatively scheduled for a March, 2009 release. However, Fox is trying to halt that date as the lawsuit over distribution rights continues. Warner Bros. claims it has no intention of moving the release date.


December, 2008 - Judge Rules in Fox's Favor Over Watchmen Rights

Surprisingly, a federal judge has ruled in Fox's favor in the ongoing battle for Watchmen distribution rights. Justice Gary A. Feess wasn't expected to make a ruling until late January, 2009. After his decision, he stated "The parties may wish to turn their efforts from preparing for trial to negotiating a resolution of this dispute or positioning the case for review.”


2008 - Fox Fights Warner Bros. Over Rights to Watchmen

Waiting until production had wrapped on the film, 20th Century Fox took Warner Bros. into court, claiming that they held the distribution rights to the film. Warner Bros., however, claims that they legally purchased the rights.
